Sutton was established on the Black River of Lake Simcoe in 1820. Sutton is now part of the Town of Georgina. Today, it is a lively community that offers the charming character of the Upper Canada village. Sutton is very popular destination for ice fishing during the winter months.

Closer to Lake Simcoe, Sutton joins Jackson's Point, a very popular destination for visitors. Sibbald Point Provincial Park, with its 3000 feet of prime lakeshore, offers the visitors private and group campsites.
